The primary focus of the department is to empower our students with overall development and make them industry ready
Prof. (Dr.) R. S. Raman, Head of the Department

Mechanical Engineering has been traditionally thought of as a professional discipline, applying principles from engineering, physics in design and analysis, manufacturing of mechanical systems, and the associated transfer and flow of energies from one form to another.

The Department offers Bachelor’s and Master’s level programs that prepare students for tomorrow’s rapidly evolving technological environment.

The department has modern infrastructure to undertake high-end teaching, research and developmental activities in its various laboratories. Our undergraduates and graduate students, conduct fundamental and applied research at the cutting edge of Science and Technology along with incubating successful technical ventures.

Faculty members have excellent academic credentials and are highly motivated. Our students work closely with these faculties while advancing the frontiers of next generation engineering and technology. The primary focus is to impart technical hands on know-how to students, promote their problem solving skills and innovation of new technologies. Undergraduate students are encouraged to undertake various research projects under the guidance of experienced industrial experts. The Department also maintains active research groups for carrying out collaborative and interdisciplinary research.

We always intend to impart knowledge through a closed knit family of highly competent faculty. Our laboratories have been very well established not only to cover complete syllabi but also to motivate students to learn beyond the syllabus which facilitates comprehensive understanding of the subject (both the practical and theoretical aspects) and develop skill sets of students to become promising engineers in future.

The Department looks forward to contribute in solving the technological challenges of the society with active participation from all sections of the society. Thank you for visiting and supporting us for incredible technical happenings!

The Indian Institute of Welding (IIW-India) was incorporated on the 22nd April, 1966 at Calcutta to foster the development of welding science, technology and engineering in India and since then has been serving the cause of the welding industry through its 13 branches / chapters throughout India. The institute is a non-profit making organisation registered under Section 25 of the Company’s Act 1956 and is also registered under Section 12A of the Income Tax Act 1961, as an Institution for charitable purpose. Through its various activities and programmes, IIW-India is now recognized as the premier Institute related to welding in the country with over 4500 Individual and Corporate Members. Further, as a member society of the International Institute of Welding, it is helping to project the importance and achievements of the Indian Welding Industry to the global community.
The students’ chapter of IIW-India has been constituted to meet the following objectives:
  • Create awareness on Welding applications and the latest developments.
  • Explore the career opportunity for the student’s community in this area.
  • Provide an opportunity to students in networking and organizing workshops / seminars in this field.
  • To promote the interest in Welding Education among Engineering Students and qualify them for R&D in the field of Welding Technology.
This chapter was established in the year of 2019. 30 students were taken individual membership and they have participate in various events. One event named welding camp 20-21 was organized for students and 7 lecture was conducted in this event.

ASHRAE

ASHRAE is an international society of heating, refrigerating and air-conditioning professionals. Founded in 1894, ASHRAE is dedicated to advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment. The Society and its members focus on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability within the industry. Through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education, ASHRAE shapes tomorrow’s built environment today. ASHRAE was formed as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers by the merger in 1959 of American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE) founded in 1894 and The American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASRE) founded in 1904.
In 2012, as part of a rebranding, ASHRAE began doing business as “ASHRAE” vs. using its full legal name of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. Use of ASHRAE reflects the Society’s worldwide membership and that services will continue evolving globally.

ASHRAE's Mission and Vision

Mission: To serve humanity by advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration and their allied fields.
Vision: A healthy and sustainable built environment for all.
